Mindful Play Facilitator | Narrative Designer | Cultural Consultant
๐๐ค Currently facilitating mindful play sessions and consulting on narrative design and sensitivity/cultural representation. ๐ค๐
I use role-playing and story games as tools for identity exploration, emotional processing, and community building. My masters and doctoral research centered on interactive identification--after which I supplemented with non-profit research on representation in international tv, commercials, movies, and games.
Now, in addition to teaching at UCLA, I use my powers for good: I create brave spaces and inclusive, empowering experiences to help deep thinkers play, playful folks get mindful, and everyone practice mutual care.
I see play as an ideal means to practice being in the moment. What do you say, do, feel, when experiencing a crit fail? Or, the solo player struggle, how do you get yourself to play in the first place? Can Corp-Borg be a way to teach business students project management skills, stakeholder communication, and blood sacrifice, like I told my department when they reimbursed the purchase? (I think so.)
I've written about this in academic contexts, but my Substack is a more accessible starting place:
